Salary Range : Up to $16.75/hour.
Hours : Up to 19 hours per week, generally from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Hours may vary, non-exempt.

Essential Functions Job Summary The Research Scientist Assistant I works to assist in the performance of assignments requiring a basic working knowledge of engineering or scientific methods, in such areas as research, design or experimental testing.
This is a grant-funded position dependent on availability of funds and departmental need. Core Responsibilities - Conducts standard archaeological fieldwork, monitoring, shovel testing, survey and test excavations, and record observations/measurements.
- Maintains daily logs of observations, photographs, and notes.
- Conducts basic lab tasks - washing, counting, and cataloging artifacts.
- Assists in maintaining and cleaning field laboratory equipment.
- Inventories supplies and equipment.
- Takes a proactive approach to assist co-workers in various tasks, to ensure safety.
- Proactively makes recommendations to improve safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of assignment.
- Texas Driver's License or the ability to obtain one promptly.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Some knowledge of the basic equipment used in the field of research to which assigned.
- Knowledge of special equipment used in the field of assignment.

Working Conditions - Usual laboratory, office, or outdoor fieldwork.
- Field work may include working in hot and cold conditions.
- Requires working with hazardous equipment or materials occasionally.
Physical Demands: - Requires standing for long periods, and physical excursion.
- Exerts up to 50 lbs. or more of force occasionally.
This position will be primarily located
on campus . Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
